Gatlinburg Cabin & Vacation Rental Photography

A Spectacular Sunset at a cabin in Gatlinburg

My Home Turf

I’ve been photographing vacation rentals around Gatlinburg for a long time, and it’s pretty amazing how much the town—and especially its cabin market—has changed.

One of the biggest changes came after the devastating fires of 2016.

Before the fires, parts of places like Chalet Village were filled with 30- and 40-year-old homes surrounded by mature trees. It was classic old Gatlinburg. You could be sitting on the side of a mountain and still have surprisingly little mountain view because the trees had been growing up around the house for decades.

The fires changed that landscape dramatically. Large sections were lost, and rebuilding took years. But as those areas came back, something very different emerged.

Today, many of those same areas are filled with newer cabins and chalets with modern architecture, huge windows, expansive decks, and dramatically more open views of the Smokies. A lot of them were designed from the beginning around the views and amenities today’s Gatlinburg visitors are looking for.

The reason for that transformation was tragic, and that’s an important part of the story. But after watching the rebuilding happen over the years, it’s remarkable to see what some of those neighborhoods have become.

Gatlinburg really did rise from the ashes.

And from a photographer’s perspective, it’s a fascinating place to work. Within a few miles you can go from a brand-new luxury chalet overlooking Mt. LeConte to an old-school log cabin buried in the woods, a secluded property near the Arts & Crafts Community, or a rental minutes from downtown.

That’s part of what I like about photographing here. There isn’t really one “Gatlinburg cabin.”

Photographing what makes your Gatlinburg property different

A great mountain view should look like a great mountain view. A secluded wooded cabin should feel secluded. A huge deck, game room, pool, theater, or beautiful old stone fireplace shouldn’t get treated like just another item on a shot list.

My approach is to figure out what gives someone a reason to choose this property and make sure the photography communicates it.

I provide professional vacation rental photography for individual owners and property management companies throughout Gatlinburg, with an emphasis on clean, accurate color, natural-looking interiors, realistic window views, and images that show the property at its best without making it look like somewhere else.

You don’t need to be in Gatlinburg for the shoot. If you manage your cabin from out of town, I can coordinate access with you, your property manager, cleaner, or other local contact and deliver the finished photography digitally.
